Workshop Mechanic (Turbomachinery)

Role Overview

Mechanical Execution and Overhaul

• Document, erect, alter, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, reassemble, move, and inspect rotating equipment.
• Alter and overhaul rotors, turbines, disc and blade holders, shafts, sleeves, gears, couplings, and related equipment.
• Set up equipment and use appropriate tooling and specifications to perform workshop jobs.
• Use micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other tools for precise measurements.
• Measure and record critical clearances and dimensions on turbines, compressors, and associated machinery.

Quality, Safety, and Documentation

• Read and comprehend engineering drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
• Process inspection reports, photo logs, hold tags, and other required documentation.
• Maintain proficiency to successfully pass the annual dimensional inspection test.
• Promote safety and quality while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs between work shifts.

Operations and Leadership

• Apply advanced lifting, rigging, crane, and forklift operating practices.
• Work effectively in a team environment and help train other hourly employees in repair processes.
• Maintain professional conduct when working with internal and external customers.
• Take ownership of work performance, maintain job knowledge, and pursue new skill development.

Qualifications and Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of experience with rotating turbomachinery, including turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment.
• Advanced rigging and lifting capabilities.
• Advanced precision measuring capabilities.
• Ability to plan and oversee repairs with limited supervision.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and complete work safely and on time.

Base Location and Schedule

• This is a full-time, on-site permanent position at the repair facility in the KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi.
