Role Overview
The Workshop Mechanic works at the KEZAD Free Zone facility in Abu Dhabi on repairs for industrial and rotating equipment, including compressors and turbines.
As a senior technical workshop member, the role plans and oversees complex repairs with limited supervision and mentors other employees.
The role covers the full equipment lifecycle from inspection and disassembly through alignment and reassembly.
Mechanical Execution and Overhaul
- Maintain, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, reassemble, move and inspect rotating equipment.
- Overhaul rotors, turbines, disc and blade holders, shafts, sleeves, gears, couplings and related components.
- Set up equipment and use appropriate tooling and specifications for repair work.
- Measure and record critical clearances and dimensions on turbines, compressors and associated machinery.
Quality, Safety and Documentation
- Read engineering drawings, sketches, work scopes and verbal instructions.
- Process inspection reports, photo logs, hold tags and other technical documentation.
- Maintain proficiency for the annual dimensional inspection test.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while meeting strict safety and quality standards.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities and continuing needs between shifts.
Operations and Leadership
- Apply advanced knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane and forklift operations.
- Work effectively with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
- Help train hourly employees in repair processes and procedures.
- Maintain ownership of work performance and pursue new technical skills.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5–8 years of experience with rotating turbomachinery, including turbines, compressors and other rotating equipment.
- Advanced rigging, lifting and precision measuring capabilities.
- Ability to plan and oversee repairs with limited supervision.
- Ability to work safely in a team environment and support professional development.
Base Location and Schedule
- This is a full-time, on-site permanent position based at the Repair Facility in KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi.
