The Workshop Mechanic will work at the new KEZAD Free Zone facility in Abu Dhabi on repairs for industrial and rotating equipment, including compressors and turbines.
As a senior technical member of the workshop, the mechanic will plan and oversee complex repairs with limited supervision and mentor other employees.
The role covers the full equipment lifecycle from inspection and disassembly to final alignment and reassembly.
Mechanical execution and overhaul
- Document, erect, alter, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, reassemble, move, and inspect rotating equipment.
- Alter and overhaul rotors, turbines, disc and blade holders, shafts, sleeves, gears, couplings, and other equipment components.
- Set up required equipment and tooling and use specifications to perform primary functions.
- Use micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other tools for advanced precision measurement.
- Measure and record critical clearances and dimensions on turbines, compressors, and associated machinery.
Quality, safety, and documentation
- Read and comprehend engineering drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
- Process inspection reports, photo logs, hold tags, and related documentation.
- Maintain proficiency to pass the annual dimensional inspection test.
- Promote safety and quality while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs between work shifts.
Operations and leadership
- Apply advanced knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane, and forklift operations.
- Work effectively in a team environment and help train hourly employees in repair processes and procedures.
- Maintain professional conduct when working with internal and external customers.
- Take ownership of work performance, maintain job knowledge, and pursue new skill development.
Qualifications and skills
- High School Diploma or equivalency is required.
- The role requires 5–8 years of experience with rotating turbomachinery, including turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment.
- Advanced rigging and lifting capabilities are required.
- Advanced precision measuring capabilities are required.
- The mechanic must be able to plan and oversee repairs with limited supervision.
- Teamwork, safe and timely execution, and proactive professional development are expected.
Base location and schedule
- This is a full-time, onsite, permanent position based at the Repair Facility in KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi.
