(IND) Senior, Data Analyst

About the Team

What You Will Do

• Translate ambiguous business problems into actionable, data-driven solutions using advanced analytics and storytelling.
• Understand partner requirements and validate suitable data sources.
• Use SQL and Python to analyze large datasets, uncover trends, diagnose root causes, and identify opportunities.
• Apply machine learning and advanced analytics to derive insights, create causal frameworks, and predict outcomes.
• Use Tableau or Looker to communicate metrics and findings.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and reusable analytical workflows.
• Define key metrics, perform root-cause analyses, and test hypotheses.
• Communicate results and build partnerships with business, product, and engineering teams.

Education and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline is required.
• A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• The role requires 4–9 years of relevant analytics or data science experience, preferably in retail, ecommerce, or consumer internet.

Technical Skills

• Expert SQL skills for querying and transforming large-scale structured data.
• Python skills for data analysis, modeling, and automation using tools such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and statsmodels.
• Familiarity with Hive and Spark.
• Proficiency with Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning, feature engineering, supervised models, and model evaluation.

Data Science Expectations

• Select modeling approaches based on business context, data characteristics, and problem type.
• Apply model evaluation metrics while reasoning about trade-offs, particularly in risk use cases.
• Use cross-validation and robustness checks to validate models.
• Run, debug, and retrain existing models independently with new data.
• Validate model outputs and identify data or model issues before downstream use.
• Use unsupervised techniques for exploratory analysis or anomaly detection.
• Translate model outputs into actionable business insights with clear assumptions and limitations.

Business and Communication

• Learn and expand into emerging areas such as AI applications through experimentation and continuous improvement.
• Transfer technical findings into clear narratives for product and business teams.
• Demonstrate storytelling, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Workplace

• The role is based in the Bangalore or Chennai office for daily work.
