Role Summary

  • Commis I will support the kitchen team in preparing high quality dishes and maintaining exceptional culinary standards.
  • Responsible for food preparation, mise en place, and assisting in the daily operation of the assigned kitchen section.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of authentic French dishes in accordance with resort standards, recipes, and culinary guidelines.
  • Prepare mise en place and ensure all ingredients are organized and ready before service.
  • Support senior chefs in the daily operation of the French cuisine section.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and proper portion control of all food items.
  • Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and suitability before use.
  • Follow proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation procedures (FIFO).
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in compliance with HACCP standards.
  • Minimize food wastage and ensure efficient utilization of ingredients.
  • Ensure timely food preparation and smooth kitchen operations during service periods.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting any faults or maintenance requirements promptly.

Candidate Profile

  • 1–2 years of experience in a quality hotel, resort, or restaurant environment, with experience in French cuisine preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of basic food preparation, French cooking techniques, kitchen operations, and culinary standards.
  • Motivated team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and commitment to high standards.
  • Good English communication skills required; knowledge of an additional language is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with classical French cuisine, sauces, stocks, and preparation methods is highly desirable.
