Own clear, accurate, user-oriented technical documentation across the product lifecycle.

The role combines technical writing, documentation strategy, developer tooling, database exploration, and AI-assisted workflows.

Accountabilities

  • Create installation, configuration, troubleshooting, how-to, user manual, man page, help prompt, and release documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, development, QA, and technical writing teams.
  • Translate PostgreSQL and database concepts into accessible content for varied technical audiences.
  • Use Markdown, text, images, diagrams, and other formats to create effective documentation.
  • Maintain documentation through version-controlled docs-as-code workflows.
  • Use AI tools to draft, refine, structure, format, and improve content while maintaining accuracy.
  • Participate in ceremonies, technical discussions, planning, and collaborative activities.
  • Improve documentation strategy, writing standards, workflows, and processes.
  • Engage with open-source communities through forums, mailing lists, and related channels.
  • Research technologies and contribute to upstream documentation, technical blogs, or knowledge sharing.
  • Help maintain documentation testing, validation, and CI/CD workflows.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional Technical Writer experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Experience documenting complex software systems for technical audiences.
  • Strong familiarity with markup languages, particularly Markdown.
  • Experience installing and configuring database server software on Linux.
  • Experience with docs-as-code methodologies and tools including Git, Jenkins, Markdown, HTML, and/or JavaScript.
  • Experience using AI tools for technical documentation workflows.
  • Comfort with the Linux command line and tools such as Git, GCC, and GDB.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and/or database server development.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a distributed organization.
  • Strong collaboration skills using workplace and community communication tools.
  • Developer or DevOps background is highly valued.

Workplace and schedule

  • The position is fully remote within a globally distributed organization.
  • Working hours are flexible and organized around team syncs and customer meetings.
