Role overview

Accountabilities

• Own design tokens, component libraries, documentation, code components, architecture, and adoption across product surfaces.
• Lead a component architecture migration with engineering and deliver production-quality components.
• Establish governance for versioning, contributions, releases, handoffs, and definitions of done.
• Create patterns, guidelines, tooling, and workflows for agentic product experiences.
• Design and ship reusable AI-powered product experiences.
• Prototype in the production stack, review component implementations, and participate in technical architecture discussions.
• Use AI-assisted tools such as Claude Code and validate generated outputs before production.
• Provide critique, pairing, mentorship, and hands-on craft leadership across the senior design organization.
• Measure and improve adoption, handoff efficiency, rework, governance maturity, and reuse of AI-forward patterns.

Requirements

• Have 12 or more years of professional product design experience and several years owning and scaling design systems.
• Have hands-on expertise in tokens, component architecture, libraries, and governance.
• Be comfortable with TypeScript and React codebases, Storybook, and technical architecture discussions.
• Have led a production design-system migration or re-platforming initiative.
• Have designed AI-driven or agentic product experiences.
• Have used AI-assisted tools such as Claude Code and validated generated output before release.
• Lead effectively through influence in flat, complex, or ambiguous environments.
• Communicate, collaborate, think critically, and make decisions effectively across design and engineering.
• Experience with developer tools, data science, technical audiences, open-source systems, Figma plugins, or AI-assisted design workflows is highly desirable.
• Experience across multi-product or converging platforms with shared design infrastructure is a strong advantage.
• Support inclusive collaboration, candid communication, thoughtful critique, and diverse perspectives.

Benefits and work environment

• Base salary is $146,500 to $216,000, depending on role level, location, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
