Role overview

Portfolio Operations Manager, Commercial role supporting a partner company in the United States.

The role manages commercial solar and energy storage assets through their post-commercial-operation lifecycle.

The position combines client relationships, performance management, service coordination, technical escalation, and reporting.

The portfolio is approximately 100–200 MW of distributed solar assets.

Accountabilities

  • Own client relationships and advise on preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Provide monthly performance reporting and translate technical data into production, revenue, risk, and cost insights.
  • Manage expectations, support retention and renewals, and protect relationships during service issues.
  • Coordinate service reporting and support field technicians at client sites.
  • Create Salesforce Cases and Work Orders for planned and unplanned service activities.
  • Coordinate between clients, Performance Management, Field Operations, and Technical Operations.
  • Track escalations, identify systemic issues, and determine appropriate specialist or field-service escalation.
  • Advise clients on repair, replacement, and warranty decisions and improve operational processes.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year in commercial operations and maintenance, asset management, field service management, account management, or a related function.
  • At least 2 years of solar energy industry experience and 3+ years of overall professional experience.
  • Client success or customer service experience with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with solar monitoring DAS platforms, alerts, performance data, and troubleshooting workflows.
  • Experience interpreting solar system design drawings and understanding solar PV technology.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, technical aptitude, ownership, adaptability, and problem-solving ability.
  • Commercial post-installation solar operations experience is strongly preferred.
  • Three or more years of solar industry experience is a plus.

Systems and technical knowledge

  • The role requires use of CRM, support-ticketing, ERP, business intelligence, and other operational systems.
  • Salesforce Cases and Work Orders are used for planned and unplanned service activities.
  • Working knowledge of solar failure modes and monitoring-system alarm patterns supports technical client discussions.

Compensation

  • Annual base salary is $68,000–$84,000.
  • Total compensation includes performance bonuses and long-term stock options.
  • Annual merit increases may be available based on performance and development.
