Technical Pre-Sales Engineer – Servers & Storage

About the Role

Customer Engagement and Solution Design

• Engage customers to understand business requirements, workloads, infrastructure constraints, and future growth.
• Design enterprise server and storage solutions covering platform selection, storage architecture, sizing, and performance.
• Integrate designs with virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, and data centre environments.
• Conduct capacity planning, workload sizing, performance analysis, configuration validation, and growth planning.
• Conduct site visits and infrastructure assessments, including government and defense facilities.
• Evaluate OEM platforms and recommend suitable, commercially competitive solutions.

Technical Documentation and Proposals

• Prepare HLDs, LLDs, solution architectures, technical specifications, and Bills of Materials.
• Prepare technical responses for RFPs, RFQs, tenders, compliance sheets, and customer questionnaires.
• Validate configurations for compatibility, interoperability, redundancy, scalability, and performance.
• Build and validate BOMs for accurate costing and OEM deal registration.
• Ensure solutions meet customer, OEM, implementation, and applicable government requirements.

Pre-Sales and Sales Support

• Support customer meetings, technical discussions, presentations, negotiations, and clarifications.
• Conduct technical presentations, solution demonstrations, workshops, and Proofs of Concept where required.
• Provide technical authority and guidance on server and storage throughout the sales cycle.
• Work with OEMs, distributors, and technology partners to develop competitive solutions and secure technical resources.

Solution Handover and Delivery

• Coordinate with implementation and delivery teams to confirm technical feasibility and accurate scope.
• Provide technical clarification and solution documentation during project handover.
• Align proposed architecture, BOM, customer expectations, and delivery requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Required Technical Expertise

• Enterprise rack and blade servers, platform selection, CPU, memory, I/O sizing, firmware, compatibility, and interoperability.
• SAN, NAS, unified, all-flash, and hybrid storage architectures.
• RAID, snapshots, replication, tiering, deduplication, compression, and storage performance optimization.
• Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NVMe-oF, zoning, multipathing, and storage fabric design.
• VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, backup and disaster recovery, Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, and data centre infrastructure.
