About the Role
The engineer will work across LabOS, an internal software platform coordinating experiment scheduling, execution, data capture, and results processing.
The role is full-stack product engineering at the intersection of software and physical-world biology.
The team is small, and engineers have substantial impact on product direction and implementation.
Day-to-Day Work
- Create interfaces and APIs that give scientists and AI agents real-time visibility into laboratory activity.
- Build AI agents and tooling that automate decisions across protocol design, experiment execution, and troubleshooting failed results.
- Turn proprietary hardware into API-controllable devices that agents and software can operate programmatically.
- Design scheduling systems coordinating dozens of laboratory instruments with complex dependency chains.
- Own large areas of the product and influence what gets built and how.
What We Are Looking For
- Full-stack production experience and the ability to work across the stack are required.
- The product stack includes TypeScript, React, Node, and Postgres, but broad full-stack capability is emphasized.
- Product instinct and experience shipping, observing users, iterating, and shipping again are required.
- The engineer must be comfortable starting from goals rather than complete specifications.
- The role requires heavy use of AI tools and enough independent experience to recognize quality work.
- Curiosity about biology is valued, but no biology background is required.
