About the Role
- Build the LabOS internal software platform and its orchestration layer for experiment scheduling, execution, data capture, and results processing.
- Create real-time interfaces and APIs for scientists and AI agents.
- Build AI agents and tools that automate protocol design and troubleshooting decisions.
- Make proprietary laboratory hardware API-controllable.
- Design schedules for dozens of instruments with complex dependency chains.
- Own large product areas and have significant influence in a small team.
What We Are Looking For
- Full-stack production experience across the software stack.
- Experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL is relevant to the current stack.
- Product instinct demonstrated by shipping, observing users, iterating, and shipping again.
- Comfort working from goals rather than complete specifications.
- Ability to use AI tools heavily while evaluating engineering quality independently.
- Curiosity about biology; previous biology experience is not required.
