Company and Role Overview

Adaptyv is building an automated laboratory that lets AI agents run biology experiments.

The company combines software, hardware, laboratory instruments, workflow orchestration, observability, data pipelines, and AI systems.

The Head of UK Operations will establish and run Adaptyv's new London operation and automated lab.

Location and Work Arrangement

  • The role is located in London, United Kingdom, and is explicitly on-site.
  • The candidate should already be based in London or be ready to relocate.
  • The target London lab opening is in 2026.

Role Responsibilities

  • Take the London lab from lease to operational opening, managing fit-out, contractors, equipment, suppliers, permits, timelines, and budget.
  • Build the founding UK team across lab operations, automation, and science with the founders.
  • Set up the UK entity and own banking, accounting, payroll, insurance, budgeting, contracts, and operational infrastructure.
  • Own the UK operation end to end and run the business day to day.
  • Own the local customer experience from onboarding through experiment delivery.
  • Build relationships with landlords, contractors, vendors, universities, biotechs, partners, and the London life-science ecosystem.

What the Employer Seeks

  • Experience launching a new site, geography, business unit, or physical operation for a fast-growing company is preferred.
  • Experience with laboratories, clinics, manufacturing, hardware, or other infrastructure-heavy businesses is particularly relevant.
  • Ability to work across property, finance, legal, hiring, customers, and operations as an exceptional generalist.
  • Ability to negotiate, make decisions, follow up, and keep complex projects moving.
  • High ownership and comfort figuring out what needs to happen without a predefined process.
  • A life-sciences degree and/or professional experience is highly preferred.
  • Comfort using AI tools such as Claude Code and company software in daily work.

UK Expansion

The London lab will serve as a hub for the UK protein-engineering ecosystem and provide high-throughput protein production and characterization.

The London operation is expanding from the company's existing Lausanne base and will work with UK customers and partners.
