Company and Mission

Adaptyv is building an automated laboratory that enables AI agents to run biology experiments.

The company combines software, hardware, laboratory instruments, workflow orchestration, observability, data pipelines, and AI systems.

The London laboratory will support protein production and characterisation for partners and UK biotech companies.

Role Details

  • The role is based in London, UK and is on-site.
  • The position is full-time and expected to start as soon as possible.
  • The London lab is targeted to open in 2026.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be the first lab operations hire in London.

The role will take the site from an empty shell to a fully operational, high-throughput protein engineering laboratory.

The role owns operational build-out and later day-to-day reliability, capacity, and throughput.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the laboratory fit-out, including infrastructure, contractors, timelines, and readiness.
  • Install and commission array-SPR, BLI, liquid handlers, and other laboratory instruments.
  • Build inventory, procurement, shipping, cold-chain, maintenance, chemical handling, and waste systems.
  • Establish laboratory safety, compliance, documentation, risk assessments, notifications, and permits.
  • Hire and manage the lab operations team.
  • Own operational performance across uptime, throughput, inventory, maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For

  • Prior experience building or expanding a laboratory through a fit-out, site move, equipment installation, or new launch.
  • Deep hands-on lab operations experience, ideally in a high-throughput and automation-heavy environment.
  • A life-sciences degree or significant related professional experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience owning laboratory safety, permitting, and compliance.
  • Ability to manage vendors, contractors, suppliers, service engineers, and logistics providers.
  • Strong operational, systems-building, detail-management, and continuous improvement capabilities.
  • Comfort working at startup pace and using AI tools to improve work.
  • Based in London or ready to relocate there for on-site work.
