The role is full-stack product engineering for LabOS, an internal platform at the intersection of software and physical-world biology.
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Build the LabOS orchestration layer for experiment scheduling, execution, data capture, and results processing.
- Create interfaces and APIs that give scientists and AI agents real-time visibility into laboratory activity.
- Build custom AI agents and tooling that automate decisions from protocol design through troubleshooting failed results.
- Turn proprietary hardware into API-controllable devices that agents and software can operate programmatically.
- Design scheduling systems that coordinate dozens of laboratory instruments with complex dependency chains.
- Own large areas of the product and have substantial influence over what gets built and how.
What the company is looking for
- Full-stack production experience and the ability to work across the software stack.
- Experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL is relevant to the current product stack.
- Product instinct demonstrated by shipping, observing users, iterating, and shipping again.
- Comfort working from goals rather than complete specifications and making scope and prioritization decisions.
- Frequent use of AI tools with enough independent experience to recognize high-quality engineering.
- No biology background is required, but interest in physical-world experiments is valued.
