Senior Backend Engineer role supporting a global connectivity platform used by millions of travelers.
The role combines hands-on backend engineering with architecture, operations, automation, scalability, and technical quality ownership.
Accountabilities
- Build and optimize mission-critical Python, Django, and Django REST Framework microservices.
- Design scalable APIs for high-concurrency traffic and usage peaks.
- Contribute to architecture, operations, automation, resilience, and scalable engineering practices.
- Maintain unit testing, automated quality checks, technical documentation, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, inefficient queries, N+1 problems, and asynchronous processing issues.
- Integrate microservices with complex third-party systems and services.
- Work with Product, QA, and engineering stakeholders on maintainable technical solutions.
- Improve development and operational processes through continuous improvement and automation.
- Serve as a hands-on technical reference for backend engineering.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional backend development experience with strong Django and Django REST Framework expertise.
- Advanced Python proficiency and understanding of backend architecture and production software development.
- Experience with microservices architectures, third-party integrations, asynchronous programming, and high-load database optimization.
- Experience with unit testing, Pytest or comparable frameworks, performance analysis, API design, architecture, and design patterns.
- Experience with code reviews, technical documentation, automated quality checks, and modern development processes.
- C1 minimum professional English proficiency for international distributed-team communication.
- Strong collaboration, communication, ownership, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution.
- Spanish fluency or professional working proficiency is a plus.
- Silk or another application performance profiling tool is advantageous.
