Role Overview
The partner company is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer based in Australia for a global connectivity platform.
The role combines hands-on backend engineering with software architecture responsibilities focused on operations, automation, and scalability.
The position is fully remote within a collaborative international team.
Accountabilities
- Build, maintain, and optimize mission-critical microservices using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
- Design scalable APIs for high-concurrency traffic and significant usage peaks.
- Contribute to architecture focused on operations, automation, resilience, and scalability.
- Establish quality frameworks using unit tests with Pytest and automated quality checks.
- Resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, inefficient queries, N+1 problems, and asynchronous processing issues.
- Integrate microservices with complex third-party systems and services.
- Improve performance and reliability through profiling, optimization, and asynchronous programming.
- Translate business requirements into maintainable solutions with Product, QA, and engineering teams.
- Champion design patterns, documentation, code reviews, and maintainability.
- Contribute to development and operational automation initiatives.
- Serve as a backend engineering reference while remaining hands-on.
