- Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain features across the Nexus platform
- Develop modern web applications using TypeScript, React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL

- Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions

- Build AI assisted workflows and internal productivity tools
- Design and implement agentic systems, autonomous workflows, and intelligent process automation

Requirements
- No specific degree or formal qualification required; strong portfolio of work essential
- Approximately 1+ years of hands on software development experience
- Experience delivering software used by real customers or businesses
- Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools in production or project environments
- Experience building and deploying full stack applications
- Experience working with APIs, databases, and cloud hosted systems
- Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS fundamentals

Job Purpose
- The AI First Developer will play a key role in designing, developing, maintaining, and scaling Nexus. As one of the core members of a small technology team, you will work across the entire technology stack, owning features from concept through deployment and support.
- This role combines software engineering, product thinking, automation, AI assisted development, systems integration, and operational problem solving. You will be expected to leverage AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow while maintaining strong engineering judgment and accountability for q
- The successful candidate will help build scalable systems, automate operational workflows, integrate external platforms, and contribute to the development of AI driven and agentic capabilities across the business.
Full Stack Development
- Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain features across the Nexus platform.
- Develop modern web applications using TypeScript, React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
- Build responsive user interfaces focused on usability, efficiency, and user experience.
- Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, workflows, and database structures.
- Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.

AI First Engineering
- Use AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Replit, Lovable, and similar platforms to accelerate development.
- Evaluate, challenge, and validate AI generated code rather than accepting outputs at face value.
- Build AI assisted workflows and internal productivity tools.
- Design and implement agentic systems, autonomous workflows, and intelligent process automation.
- Continuously identify opportunities to leverage AI to improve development speed and business operations.
Product Ownership
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across HR, Payroll, Operations, Finance, and Compliance.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to product design decisions and roadmap discussions.
- Proactively identify opportunities for automation and operational improvement.
- Take ownership of features throughout their entire lifecycle.
Systems Integration
- Develop and maintain integrations with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Graph, Accounting platforms such as Xero, HR and payroll systems, Government and compliance platforms, Third party APIs and external vendors.
- Build and maintain REST APIs, Webhook integrations, Authentication and authorization systems, Data synchronization services.
Platform Reliability & Security
- Support deployment, monitoring, and operational management of applications.
- Assist in maintaining secure development and deployment practices.
- Participate in backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Ensure adherence to cybersecurity best practices and ISO 27001 principles.
- Conduct code reviews and security assessments where appropriate.
Quality Assurance
- Develop and maintain automated and manual testing strategies.
- Ensure features are thoroughly tested before release.
- Investigate defects and implement corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Document architecture, integrations, APIs, and workflows.
- Support knowledge sharing across the technology team.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- No specific degree or formal qualification is required. We care more about your ability to build, solve problems, and demonstrate practical capability than your academic background. A strong portfolio of work is essential.
- Approximately 1+ years of hands on software development experience.
- Experience delivering software used by real customers or businesses.
- Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools in production or project environments.
