Role Overview
- The AI First Developer will play a key role in designing, developing, maintaining, and scaling Nexus.
- As one of the core members of a small technology team, you will work across the entire technology stack, owning features from concept through deployment and support.
- This role combines software engineering, product thinking, automation, AI assisted development, systems integration, and operational problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Stack Development: Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain features across the Nexus platform using TypeScript, React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
- AI First Engineering: Use AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Replit, Lovable to accelerate development; build AI assisted workflows and agentic systems.
- Product Ownership: Collaborate with stakeholders across HR, Payroll, Operations, Finance, and Compliance; translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Systems Integration: Develop and maintain integrations with Microsoft 365, Xero, HR/payroll systems, government platforms, and third party APIs.
- Platform Reliability & Security: Support deployment, monitoring, and operational management; ensure secure development practices and ISO 27001 principles.
- Quality Assurance: Develop and maintain automated and manual testing strategies; investigate defects and implement corrective actions.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain technical documentation for architecture, integrations, APIs, and workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
- No specific degree or formal qualification is required.
- A strong portfolio of work is essential (e.g., GitHub repositories, personal projects, commercial applications, SaaS products, open source contributions, AI assisted development projects).
- Approximately 1+ years of hands on software development experience.
- Experience delivering software used by real customers or businesses.
- Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools in production or project environments.
- Experience building and deploying full stack applications.
- Experience working with APIs, databases, and cloud hosted systems.
