Role Overview

Senior Accountant responsible for payroll processing, employee expense accounting, and financial reconciliation for a semi-government organization based in Abu Dhabi.

The role supports IFRS-compliant payroll accounting, ERP automation, month-end payroll accruals and closings, and Delegation of Authority compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process monthly payroll transactions with HR and validate attendance, bonuses, overtime, deductions, and other payroll inputs.
  • Record and reconcile payroll expenses and prepare payroll accounting entries, accruals, and adjustments during month-end and year-end closing.
  • Allocate payroll costs across departments, projects, and entities and monitor advances, deductions, and allowances.
  • Process employee expense claims, travel advances, and settlements while validating documentation and cost allocations.
  • Reconcile employee advances, petty cash, payroll control accounts, and expense ledgers.
  • Prepare payroll and expense schedules for reporting and consolidation and coordinate data with financial planning teams.
  • Coordinate with Tax and Compliance teams on VAT treatment and monitor Delegation of Authority adherence.
  • Support ERP enhancement and automation initiatives within payroll and expense accounting modules.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
  • A professional certification such as CFA, CMA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing, validation, and accounting in line with UAE labour law.
  • Experience in employee expense processing, travel advance management, and reimbursement accounting.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, WPS regulations, and financial governance frameworks.
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations, expense ledger management, and coordination with HR, Treasury, and Finance.
  • Proficiency in ERP or business systems such as SAP or Oracle for payroll and expense accounting modules.

Workplace and Availability

  • The client organization is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
  • Preference is given to candidates available immediately or within a maximum of 30 days.
