Position Overview

Provides engineering and maintenance services for rolling stock and maintenance vehicles supporting Dubai Metro.

The position is based in Dubai, AE, and is offered under a permanent contract.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist the Rolling Stock Team Leader with preventive and corrective maintenance and minor modifications on passenger, engineering, shunting, and wagon vehicles.
  • Perform routine inspections, replace consumables, complete minor repairs, and carry out technical cleaning.
  • Support safe systems of work and complete activities within tight maintenance schedules.
  • Test electromechanical assemblies and install, replace, align, fit, and assemble electrical and electronic components.
  • Operate metalworking machines and repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems.
  • Perform fault diagnostics and component replacement on rolling stock in situ or inside the depot.
  • Carry out wheel truing using an under-floor wheel lathe and support scheduled bogie overhauls.
  • Assist with complex systems, new projects, and First Line Response Technician rotations when required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Follow maintenance procedures, operating rules, Permit to Work processes, and perform shift and emergency duties when required.

Technical Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of car bodies, bogies, suspension, couplers, draft gears, operator controls, propulsion, friction brakes, batteries, auxiliary power, and electrical equipment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of car doors, door controls, ventilation, air-conditioning, and train control and monitoring systems is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Good eyesight and normal colour vision are required.
  • Ability to use and calibrate electrical, electronic, and mechanical test equipment and a PC is required.
  • Ability to write simple technical reports, routine correspondence, method statements, and drawings is required.
  • A UAE driving license is preferred.
  • Experience driving shunting and engineering vehicles or locomotives is advantageous.

Working Style

Requires strong mechanical aptitude, communication skills, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced team environment.
