Plant General Manager

About the Role

Plant Leadership and Operations

• Lead plant operations and maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance.
• Drive plant availability, production efficiency, operational excellence, and long-term asset reliability.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting, root cause investigations, performance improvement, and plant modifications.
• Ensure compliance with operational KPIs, production targets, contractual obligations, and safety standards.

Strategy and Performance

• Develop plant operational strategies aligned with wider business objectives.
• Prepare operational, financial, and performance reports for senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
• Monitor performance, identify risks and opportunities, implement corrective actions, and lead continuous improvement.

Financial and Commercial Management

• Manage plant budgets, financial performance, cost control, revenue, profitability, and productivity targets.
• Maintain strong understanding of commercial agreements, contracts, and project obligations.

People Leadership

• Lead, develop, and mentor multidisciplinary operational teams across the plant.
• Drive workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

HSSE and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environmental standards and policies.
• Support IMS implementation, audits, certifications, compliance activities, and contractor interfaces.
• Promote a strong safety culture across all plant activities.

Stakeholder Management

• Maintain relationships with project companies, shareholders, OEMs, contractors, regulators, and local authorities.
• Act as the key operational representative for the plant across internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 15 or more years of experience managing large-scale power generation and/or water desalination plants.
• Proven operations and maintenance leadership in utility, industrial, or infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of plant reliability, maintenance, production optimization, budgets, commercial performance, contracts, HSSE, and continuous improvement.
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholder relationships.

Location and Work Context

• The role is associated with power and water operations in the Red Sea area of Saudi Arabia.
• The position requires leadership within a physical plant environment and coordination with contractors, regulators, and local authorities.
