Job Purpose

Control Room Operations

• Operate assigned units from the control panel, adjust conditions and flows, and take corrective action during abnormalities.
• Maintain knowledge of plant layouts, processes, advanced technology systems, equipment, and procedures.
• Maintain radio contact with field operators and keep operations within agreed parameters.
• Update control room logs and complete effective shift handovers.
• Monitor abnormalities, diagnose equipment malfunctions, raise work requests, and follow up on defect rectification.
• Coordinate lockout/tagout during equipment isolation and normalize equipment after permit cancellation.
• Provide on-the-job training to junior team members.

Health, Safety and Environment

• Follow health, safety, security, and environmental procedures and controls.
• Monitor environmental regulatory parameters and report deviations for corrective action.

Continuous Improvement

• Follow organizational and departmental policies, processes, SOPs, and instructions.
• Contribute to change initiatives, programs, and projects.
• Perform other duties assigned by the line manager.

Working Relationships

• Work closely with shift engineers and supervisors, local operators, chief and shift chemists, and technicians.

Qualifications and Experience

• A technical diploma in engineering is required.
• At least five years of control room operations experience in power or water desalination units is required.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of plant equipment, control room operations, plant processes, and power and water desalination activities.
• Awareness of HSE and quality standards.
• Extensive knowledge of DCS, SCADA, and PLC operating systems.
• Knowledge of downtime analysis and problem-solving tools.
• Mentoring, coaching, people management, planning, organizing, integration, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
