Role Overview
The role is an experienced Paralegal – Trademarks & Compliance position in the Group Legal & Compliance team in Dubai.
The primary responsibility is supporting management and protection of the Group's GCC trademark portfolio.
The role also supports compliance, governance, and general legal matters with internal teams, external trademark agents, and other stakeholders.
Trademark Management
- Coordinate GCC trademark searches, applications, registrations, renewals, recordals, and related actions.
- Maintain portfolio records, documentation, and deadlines through the trademark management platform.
- Liaise with internal business teams and external trademark agents on brand filings and ongoing trademark matters.
- Monitor trademark watch notices and support opposition, infringement, and enforcement matters when required.
- Coordinate powers of attorney, notarization, legalization, and other trademark documentation.
- Review trademark agent invoices, maintain cost records, and follow up on fee queries and outstanding matters.
- Prepare periodic trademark portfolio and cost updates for the Legal team.
Compliance and General Legal Support
- Support selected compliance programs by maintaining trackers, records, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with compliance declarations, training, awareness activities, and third-party due diligence follow-ups.
- Assist with the maintenance and periodic review of Legal and Compliance policies and procedures.
- Assist with routine governance documentation, legal research, and other Legal and Compliance projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related discipline is required.
- The role requires 4–6 years of relevant experience in a paralegal, legal operations, trademark, or intellectual property environment.
- Practical understanding of trademark registration and portfolio management is required.
- Experience coordinating with external trademark agents and managing related documentation and deadlines is required.
- Exposure to compliance, governance, and general legal matters is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong organization, attention to detail, deadline management, follow-up, and task-management capabilities are required.
- The role requires professional written and verbal communication and the ability to work independently and escalate issues appropriately.
- Sound judgment and discretion are required when handling confidential information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal or trademark management systems is required.
- Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
