Mechanical Technician – Dry Process Sand Plant

Job Purpose

Mechanical Maintenance

• Inspect, maintain, and repair crushers, screens, feeders, belt conveyors, idlers, rotary dryers, fluid bed dryers, silos, hoppers, and material handling systems.
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Replace and repair bearings, gearboxes, belts, couplings, shafts, and seals.
• Carry out alignment, tensioning, and lubrication tasks.

Equipment Reliability

• Follow preventive maintenance schedules to support high equipment reliability.
• Monitor equipment performance and report abnormalities.
• Assist with root cause analysis for recurring breakdowns.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime.

Plant Operations Support

• Assist with plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with plant operators to maintain smooth and continuous production.
• Support installation and upgrading of mechanical systems and equipment.

Health, Safety and Environment

• Comply with UAE HSE regulations and company policies.
• Follow Permit to Work, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, confined space entry, and PPE procedures.
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents immediately.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and daily reports.
• Complete preventive maintenance checklists.
• Report spare-parts requirements and coordinate with stores.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma, ITI, technical certification in mechanical engineering, or an equivalent qualification is required.
• Three to five years of experience is required in dry sand processing, aggregate or quarry operations, or industrial or oilfield service environments.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, material handling equipment, crushers, vibrating screens, and dryers.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is required.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical tools and maintenance practices.

• Team-oriented communication skills and the ability to work under pressure in remote site conditions.
• High commitment to safety and quality standards.

Working Conditions and KPIs

• Site-based role in a remote oilfield or industrial environment with exposure to dust, noise, and high temperatures.
• Shift work may include night shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
• Performance is measured through equipment uptime, maintenance response time, failure reduction, HSE compliance, and preventive maintenance completion.
