About the Role

Responsibilities
- Support local management and business/sales teams with legal advice on material legal matters pertaining to freight forwarding and logistics industries
- Review and negotiate customer/commercial contracts and contractual terms in accordance with DSV Group policies
- Handle corporate law matters, including preparation and maintenance of articles of association and rules of procedure, and assist in management of annual shareholder meetings
- Provide legal support and counsel regarding material claims and litigation, and report to DSV Group Legal
- Engage and instruct external legal counsel as necessary, in coordination with local, regional and divisional management and Group Legal
- Deal with local authorities on matters of material legal and regulatory importance
- Monitor and advise upon changes in industry applicable local legislation/regulations
- Provide regular internal reporting on legal and claims/litigation matters
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer/solicitor in the Middle East Region
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Senior Associate or Legal Counsel with a reputable law firm or as part of an in house legal team
- Exposure to general corporate and commercial law, including contracts, transactions, and real estate matters
- Excellent English language proficiency at a business and legal level
- Strong legal and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate within the legal team and across business and operations functions
- Ability to work independently while effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to confidently advise and engage with colleagues across all levels of regional and country management
- Highly structured approach to work, with strong attention to detail, a focus on quality and deadlines
- Proficiency in Arabic is preferred

Job Overview

Detailed Responsibilities
- Supporting local management and business/sales teams in the region with legal advice and assistance on material legal matters pertaining to the freight forwarding and logistics industries, as well as in ensuring compliance with applicable law and DSV Group policies.
- Reviewing and negotiating of customer/commercial contracts and/or contractual terms (e.g. in respect of tenders) in accordance with DSV Group policies, and assisting local business/sales personnel in the liaison with Group Legal, Insurance, and other Group entities in respect of the terms and condit
- Corporate law matters, including preparation and maintenance of the articles of association and rules of procedure for the local companies in accordance with global corporate practice and local regulatory requirements, assistance in the management of annual shareholder meetings and general corporate
- Providing legal support and counsel regarding material claims and/or litigation and reporting to and liaising with DSV Group Legal in respect of such claims/litigation.
- Engaging and instructing external legal counsel, as necessary (including but not limited to in respect of material claims/litigation), in coordination with local, regional and divisional management, together with Group Legal
- Dealings with local authorities (including but not limited to customs and police authorities) on matters of material legal and regulatory importance, as necessary.
- Monitoring of and advising upon changes in industry applicable local legislation/regulations; and
- Providing regular internal reporting on legal and claims/litigation matters
Qualifications & Characteristics
- Qualified lawyer/solicitor in the Middle East Region
- Have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Senior Associate or Legal Counsel with a reputable law firm or as part of an in house legal team, preferably with exposure to general corporate and commercial law, including contracts, transactions, and real estate matters;
- Possess excellent English language proficiency at a business and legal level; proficiency in Arabic is preferred.
- Possess strong legal and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate within the legal team and across business and operations functions;
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently while effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders;
- Demonstrate the ability to confidently advise and engage with colleagues across all levels of regional and country management, as well as the broader DSV global organization; and
- Exhibit a highly structured approach to work, with strong attention to detail, a focus on quality and deadlines, and a keen interest in legal work within both local and global environments.
