Role Summary

The Lead Power Electronics Engineer will serve as a technical authority for high-power converters used in solar, BESS, and STATCOM applications.

The role owns the product lifecycle from conceptualization and real-time modeling through prototype validation and grid-code certification.

The work supports datacenter power architectures and renewable-energy plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced power-converter projects from concept through validated delivery.
  • Design high-power semiconductors, gate drives, control boards, and magnetic components.
  • Perform electrical sizing, circuit modeling, switching-waveform analysis, loss modeling, and control-loop simulation.
  • Maintain single-line diagrams, bills of materials, schematics, and design specifications.
  • Develop converter control algorithms and models for grid-level power-quality and stability studies.
  • Support datacenter system integration.
  • Define and execute hardware-in-the-loop and system-level validation testing.
  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, IEEE standards, and UL, IEC, and NEC requirements.
  • Collaborate with customers, sourcing, and manufacturing on project and manufacturability requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote technical rigor.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a PhD is preferred.
  • At least 8–10 years of R&D or engineering experience focused on solar inverters, BESS, or STATCOM technologies.
  • Deep expertise in AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC power-conversion topologies.
  • Strong background in semiconductor device physics, loss modeling, and control theory.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, ETAP, Altium, or OrCAD as specified for simulation and schematic/layout work.
  • Experience leading complex engineering projects and mentoring personnel in a global, matrixed organization.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in high-frequency PCB design, EMI/EMC optimization, and management of stray inductance and capacitance.
  • Strong understanding of grid-connected inverter behavior, reactive power compensation, and renewable power-quality requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical forums, standards committees, and customer design reviews.
  • Self-starter with ownership, integrity, and passion for sustainable energy and datacenter infrastructure.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is provided.
