Role Overview
The Lead Engineer will contribute to Advanced Research in electrification and power generation, including renewable energy.
The role advances technology through power electronics research, system controls, and hardware development.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct modeling, simulation, design, and testing of power electronics components and systems.
- Analyze power converters, transformers, filters, grids, electromechanical systems, generation, and controls.
- Develop control, monitoring, and diagnostic algorithms for power conversion systems.
- Implement controls in hardware and perform hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Lead programs, manage execution, mitigate risks, and deliver projects within timelines and cost.
- Present research to business customers and at technical conferences.
- Collaborate with product engineers and Advanced Research colleagues on business requirements.
- Work independently and with multidisciplinary teams while guiding new team members.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD in power electronics or a related field with at least 5 years of experience, or a master’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience designing, building, and testing power electronics and controls in advanced technology development.
