Job Description Summary
Lead electrical design and development for LV/MV variable-speed and variable-frequency drives.
The work covers sizing, simulation, testing, validation, and certification.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform LV/MV hardware drive engineering covering AC/DC systems, drive and filter sizing, hardware design, loss-budget calculations, and earth and protection circuits.
- Perform arc-flash calculations and root-cause analysis.
- Use calculations, modeling, and simulations to realize product and project requirements.
- Design systems and equipment for reliability, testing, manufacturability, material, and cost guidelines.
- Prepare and validate configurations, operating principles, application guidelines, specifications, general arrangement drawings, bills of materials, single-line diagrams, and schematics.
- Verify prototype hardware under specified operating conditions.
- Support manufacturing with component installation, wire-harness and cable routing, and clearance and creepage requirements at factory or vendor facilities.
- Lead alternate component selection, validation, localization, and testing.
- Document functional test requirements, conduct standards-based testing, and conduct project factory acceptance tests.
- Coordinate with system engineers and program, product, and project managers; travel may be required.
