Job Brief

Support engineering, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of water and wastewater pumping station projects.

Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.

Ensure instrumentation and control works comply with contracts, specifications, standards, schedules, quality systems, and HSE requirements.

The role requires technical knowledge of PLC, SCADA, industrial automation, and commissioning activities.

Compensation

  • Salary is up to AED 12,000 per month.

Engineering and Documentation

  • Review contract specifications, drawings, BOQs, and employer requirements for instrumentation and control systems.
  • Prepare and review material submittals, method statements, ITPs, risk assessments, and commissioning procedures.
  • Prepare and review P&IDs, instrument lists, I/O lists, cable schedules, loop drawings, hook-up drawings, termination drawings, control system architecture, and instrument datasheets.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across electrical, mechanical, civil, and process disciplines.
  • Review vendor documentation for PLC, SCADA, HMI, field instrumentation, analyzers, control panels, and communication systems.

Procurement and Installation

  • Coordinate with automation suppliers on PLC, SCADA, HMI, telemetry, communication networks, and third-party integration.
  • Review technical offers, respond to technical queries, and participate in vendor evaluations.
  • Supervise installation of field instruments, control panels, junction boxes, cable trays, instrumentation cables, fibre optic systems, and associated equipment.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and HSE procedures.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure timely closure of inspection comments.

Testing and Handover

  • Perform loop checking, point-to-point testing, calibration verification, functional testing, FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing.
  • Coordinate plant start-up activities and provide technical support during testing, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Prepare punch lists, monitor snag rectification, and close outstanding works before handover.
  • Prepare as-built drawings, operation and maintenance documentation, testing records, and commissioning reports.
  • Participate in progress meetings and provide updates on engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation engineering, electrical engineering, control engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control engineering.
  • Practical experience with PLC, SCADA, HMI, and industrial automation systems.
  • Good understanding of Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and OPC.
  • Ability to review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and vendor documentation.
  • Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in water, wastewater, pumping stations, or industrial EPC projects is preferred.
  • Experience with testing and commissioning PLC/SCADA and instrumentation systems is advantageous.
  • Experience integrating PLC/SCADA with pump controls, VFDs, surge protection systems, and utility SCADA networks is advantageous.
  • Experience coordinating with utility authorities, consultants, and EPC contractors is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of DEWA standards, MCCs, VFDs, field instruments, document management systems, and project management procedures is advantageous.
  • Experience using PLC/SCADA engineering software and document management systems is advantageous.
