Engineering Design Director

Role Overview

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering solutions, design, and estimation across local and export markets.
• Develop bespoke and standard lighting, home automation, audiovisual, BMS, and integrated technical solutions.
• Maintain engineering, design, estimation, technical documentation, and product standards across regions.
• Oversee technical calculations, drawings, specifications, product selection, reviews, approvals, BOQs, take-offs, and quotation documentation.
• Provide technical leadership for complex and high-risk projects and collaborate with commercial, operational, supplier, consultant, and customer stakeholders.
• Evaluate new products, technologies, suppliers, and solution categories while driving standardization and innovation.
• Lead managers and multidisciplinary technical teams through resource planning, performance management, competency development, and succession planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering, lighting technology, automation, control systems, or closely related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, technical solutions, product management, design, estimation, or engineered project delivery.
• Experience leading managers and multidisciplinary technical teams in a senior engineering or technical leadership capacity.
• Lighting-industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with B2B, project-based, specification-driven, configurable, and bespoke technical solutions.
• Ability to connect technical decisions with cost, margin, sourcing, manufacturing, delivery, installation, customer value, and commercial risk.
• Proficiency with relevant design, calculation, product-data, estimation, document-control, ERP, CRM, and business systems.
• Excellent professional English and willingness to travel across markets, project sites, and supplier or manufacturing locations.

Compensation

• Salary is AED 25,000 per month.

Location

• The role is based in Dubai and includes travel across local and export markets, customer and project sites, and supplier or manufacturing locations.
