Compensation and Benefits

• Salary is listed as $120,000–$140,000 plus a discretionary annual bonus.
• Benefits include four weeks of vacation, benefits, RSP matching of $2,500 yearly, onsite parking, and a 3 p.m. Friday finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and coach the accounting team by setting priorities, reviewing work, and supporting team growth.
• Own accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, and job-cost accounting.
• Oversee WIP reporting, job-cost analysis, holdbacks, progress billings, revenue recognition, and project profitability reporting.
• Lead month-end close and prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Prepare monthly HST filings and coordinate year-end working papers and corporate tax filings.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and cross-training across the accounting team.
• Lead annual budgeting, rolling cash-flow forecasts, performance monitoring, and variance communication.
• Oversee payroll reconciliation and provide financial analysis for insurance and fleet expenditures.
• Support ownership with analysis of project performance, pricing, purchasing, and business decisions.
• Lead the finance workstream for Premier implementation and ongoing optimization.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including general contracting or construction management experience.
• Prior responsibility for full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and project accounting.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation is strongly preferred, although substantial hands-on Controller-level construction experience may be considered instead.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and reviewing accounting staff.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Construction or accounting software experience, including Premier, Procore, Jonas, CMiC, or Sage, is an asset.
• Clear communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under deadlines are required.
