Estimation Engineer (MEP)

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender specifications, drawings, equipment schedules, and contract documents to determine project scope.
• Prepare MEP scope summaries, inclusions, exclusions, and responsibility matrices.
• Conduct quantity take-offs and coordinate measured quantities with Quantity Surveyors.
• Request, evaluate, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations for mechanical and electrical systems.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, specialist systems, testing and commissioning, engineering, and labor.
• Identify discrepancies, design gaps, and technical clarifications within tender documents.
• Develop BOQs and cost breakdowns using approved estimation procedures and templates.
• Ensure compliance with authority requirements, codes, regulations, and project-specific standards, including TAQA requirements where applicable.
• Support the Estimation Manager with quantity reviews, pricing strategies, quotations, and final tender submissions.
• Maintain cost databases, pricing, labor productivity rates, and historical tender records.
• Organize tender documentation for future reference and benchmarking.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in MEP estimation within an MEP contracting environment.
• Experience pricing both mechanical and electrical building services projects is preferred.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Strong understanding of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire fighting systems.
• Knowledge of MEP installation methodologies, authority requirements, local regulations, industry standards, and submission procedures.
• Familiarity with TAQA requirements and specifications is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Effective communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
