Role overview

Lead a talented engineering team within a fully remote, globally distributed environment.

Combine technical judgment with people leadership to help engineers deliver valuable products.

Own roadmap execution, technical decisions, team development, hiring, and engineering practice improvements.

Remain close to technology, code, technical designs, and implementation details.

Accountabilities

  • Manage and support engineers delivering high-quality features and improvements.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Success on roadmap execution and technical priorities.
  • Coach engineers, provide feedback, and support career development.
  • Remove execution obstacles and improve processes, collaboration, and development practices.
  • Assess people, processes, scope, dependencies, and delivery risks to improve execution.
  • Review technical designs, code, and product proposals.
  • Break complex initiatives into lower-risk increments and adapt plans using feedback.
  • Hire, onboard, and develop individual contributors while building engineering culture.
  • Make decisions on execution, prioritization, and delivery using technical and product judgment.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of engineering management experience or equivalent team leadership experience.
  • Technical background in either the Clojure ecosystem or frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
  • Ability to read code and technical design documentation and participate in technical discussions.
  • Strong product judgment and ability to identify technical and delivery risks.
  • Ability to diagnose execution issues across people, processes, scope, and implementation.
  • Strong problem decomposition and decision-making skills.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, especially for asynchronous collaboration.
  • Ability to work with globally distributed teams and manage priorities autonomously.
  • Outcome-oriented mindset, technical curiosity, sound judgment, and focus on user value.

Compensation

  • US salary benchmark is $200,000–$250,000 annually, plus meaningful equity and benefits.
  • Compensation may vary by geographic location, qualifications, skills, experience, and responsibility scope.
