Role Overview

The partner company is seeking a Devices & IoT Field Engineering Manager based in Australia.

The role leads a regional Field Engineering team supporting customers through presales, solution architecture, and professional services.

The position combines hands-on technical expertise, people management, customer engagement, and strategic thinking.

The role operates in a globally distributed environment with international collaboration.

Accountabilities

  • Lead, develop, and support Field Engineers from graduate to senior level.
  • Set objectives, plan priorities, and drive progress against projects and business commitments.
  • Coach engineers, strengthen engineering practices, and support technical and career development.
  • Advise customers on complex Linux and IoT problems and communicate business value.
  • Represent products to customers, partners, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Provide market and customer feedback to Product and Engineering teams.
  • Support international travel for company events and customer engagements.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or a compelling alternative professional background.
  • Extensive embedded Linux experience, including Yocto or comparable technologies.
  • Strong Linux expertise; Debian or Ubuntu experience is advantageous.
  • Previous experience managing or leading a small engineering or technical team.
  • Customer-facing experience in technical, consulting, presales, professional services, or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of connected devices, IoT, edge computing, and secure reliable device fleets.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, adaptable, accountable, collaborative, and results-oriented approach.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a rapidly changing technology environment.
  • RTOS experience is desirable; additional programming or spoken-language skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel internationally approximately twice yearly for company events and occasionally for customer or industry engagements.

Work Environment

  • The company operates a globally distributed, remote-first working environment.
  • The role works primarily within a single major time zone while collaborating globally.
  • In-person team sprints and company events occur approximately twice a year.
