COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Position overview

Commercial responsibilities

• Advise the General Manager on commercial and contractual risks from tender to project completion.
• Lead contract management, commercial planning, cost control, and project financial management.
• Review tenders and assess contractual risks, pricing, profitability, and commercial exposure.
• Manage contracts, subcontracts, negotiations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs against budgets and identify variances and corrective actions.
• Prepare and negotiate loss-and-expense claims and manage dispute resolution.
• Oversee interim valuations, monthly project payments, and final accounts.

Stakeholder and governance responsibilities

• Work with Estimation, Procurement, Project, and Operations teams to achieve commercial objectives.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors on contracts, payments, claims, and project completion.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, insurance, bonds, warranties, and guarantees.
• Provide commercial input into business plans, financial reviews, and strategic decisions.
• Lead and develop the commercial team and implement consistent commercial procedures.

Qualifications and experience

• A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or an equivalent discipline is required.
• More than 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a Project Commercial Manager or Commercial Manager role, is required.
• A master's degree is an advantage.
• PMP certification is preferred.

Technical and professional requirements

• Strong knowledge of FIDIC forms of contract is mandatory.
• Strong experience in risk analysis, claims, variations, contract administration, and project commercial management is required.
• Proven experience managing and leading a commercial team is required.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, leadership, and communication skills are required.
• Strong written and spoken English is required, while Arabic is an advantage.
• The role requires effective collaboration with clients, consultants, subcontractors, project teams, and senior management.
