Position Overview

  • The Café Server role in Hoppi will work alongside other staff to successfully run the Café and ensure customers’ expectations of food, beverages and customer service are met.
  • This may include aspects of café operation including equipment, facilities, health and safety, customer care, and administration.
  • The role will involve working with the management team to achieve the best possible quality of food and beverage provision.

Cafe Management and Coordination

  • Set and maintain highest standards of customer service in café.
  • Provide cover with other staff as required on a daily basis.
  • Take responsibility for presentation of food and beverages offered for sale and completion of admin duties.
  • Monitor and control stocks and wastage, undertaking stock take at regular intervals with assistance of management team.
  • Work with management team on other projects as required.
  • Ensure good timekeeping and performance by staff, comply at all times with security procedures.
  • Assist management team to maintain standards of hygiene and health and safety at all times.

Financial Management

  • Operate the till and take receipt of payments.
  • Ensure all cash and credit card transactions are completed according to company directives.

Health & Safety

  • Comply with all Health and Safety policy, measures and legislation.
  • Ensure safe operation of the café and use equipment in a safe manner.
  • Maintain security of café and equipment.
  • Assist with Risk Assessments and Method Statements where required.
  • Report all safety matters to the Manager.

Customer Service

  • Assist with customer enquiries and orders.
  • Welcome customers and ensure their orders are processed efficiently.
  • Work within reason to minimize customer complaints and maximize customer satisfaction.

What You'll Need to Bring

  • Ability to work 6 days a week including weekends and public holidays.
  • Previous experience as a server within a customer focused environment.
  • Pleasant and confident customer service and communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn new systems.
  • High energy levels with cheerful disposition.
  • Willingness to understand and engage the public about the range of activities at Hoppi.
  • Ability to be calm and positive when dealing with complaints or difficult situations.
  • An interest in working in a child friendly environment.
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training such as first aid or food hygiene.
