Role Summary
The Business Data Analyst will support data-driven transformation, reporting, analytics, and process-improvement initiatives.
The role bridges business stakeholders and technology or data teams by translating business requirements into data requirements and analyzing data across banking systems.
Responsibilities
- Gather and document requirements from banking, finance, risk, compliance, operations, and other business teams.
- Understand banking processes, products, systems, and data flows.
- Identify enterprise data sources and perform data discovery, profiling, cleansing, and validation.
- Create source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, business rules, and data lineage documentation.
- Write SQL queries and analyze datasets for trends, exceptions, data-quality issues, and insights.
- Develop MIS, dashboards, and management reports using Power BI, Excel, or similar tools.
- Support reporting automation, data reconciliation, and resolution of data issues with technology teams and vendors.
- Support SIT and UAT, production issue investigation, regulatory and audit data requirements, and transformation projects.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3–6 years of experience as a Business Data Analyst, Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or Technical Business Analyst.
- Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and data validation.
- Strong understanding of data analysis, data structures, databases, and data quality.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI and reporting tools.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with data mapping, reconciliation, business rules, and requirements documentation.
- Understanding of ETL, data warehouses, and enterprise data environments.
- Experience supporting UAT and SIT and working with technology teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Banking, financial-services, or fintech experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Temenos T24/Transact, Oracle, FIS, Finacle, or other core-banking platforms is advantageous.
- Knowledge of banking domains such as payments, lending, cards, finance, risk, AML/KYC, or regulatory reporting is advantageous.
- Exposure to Python, Alteryx, SAS, data migration, or enterprise data-transformation projects is advantageous.
- Understanding of CBUAE or regulatory reporting requirements is advantageous.
