Business Analyst –Data Sensitivity & VDI Migration

Role overview

Accountabilities

• Inventory systems, tools, endpoints, and data usage patterns associated with physical device storage.
• Assess and classify data sensitivity across business units, systems, processes, and workflows.
• Analyze data and process flows across systems, servers, networks, and endpoints.
• Prioritize high-risk storage practices and systems for migration to VDI or other secure solutions.
• Document current-state and future-state data storage, access, and usage models.
• Evaluate VDI, enhanced access controls, and other secure data management approaches.
• Develop VDI migration business cases considering risk, cost, operational impact, and adoption.
• Facilitate stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirements-gathering sessions.
• Present findings and recommendations to technology leadership and key stakeholders.
• Support migration roadmaps, privileged access management frameworks, and auditing and compliance reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Five to seven or more years of professional Business Analyst experience in relevant data, security, storage, infrastructure, or endpoint initiatives.
• Experience in complex, multi-platform, enterprise-level environments and analysis of systems usage and data flows.
• Familiarity with VDI concepts and platforms such as Citrix, VMware Horizon, or Azure Virtual Desktop, or ability to learn new technical domains.
• Experience with stakeholder interviews, requirements gathering, and translating complex findings into actionable recommendations.
• Ability to develop use cases, cost-benefit analyses, business cases, and executive-ready documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and business audiences.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with data classification frameworks and NIST or ISO 27001 is preferred.
• Endpoint management, IT asset management, or physical device inventory experience is advantageous.
• Consulting or contract-based Business Analyst experience is beneficial.
• Higher-education or nonprofit technology exposure is a plus.
