About the Role
Emirates Global Aluminium is seeking a Utility Operator to assist in operating reduction cells for aluminium production. The role involves on-the-job training and tasks such as anode changing, metal tapping, and housekeeping.

Responsibilities
- Assist PTM operator in changing anodes safely and to required standard
- Assist with pot beam raising operation as per procedure
- Prepare tapping hole prior to metal tapping
- Skim crucible to remove dross
- Perform metal and bath sampling for quality control
- Assist cell operator with housekeeping, bath tapping, material addition, pot skimming and redressing
- Assist in gutter and basement cleaning
- Attend PTM on the job training if required
- Clean crucible and siphon tips
- Attend anode effects efficiently to lower PFC emissions
- Perform other operational work as directed by Shift Supervisor
- Ensure pot shields and doors are properly placed to reduce HF emissions
Requirements
- Secondary School Certificate
- One year of experience in heavy industry is preferable
- Physical fitness and willingness to work shift schedules in potrooms
- English communication skills
- Complete training to operate Pot Tending Machines and other equipment

Job Purpose
- To attain basic skill level for a Utility Operator on the Pot Line through on the job training.
- To assist in operating reduction cells to produce molten aluminium effectively and efficiently.
Key Accountabilities
- Assists PTM operator in changing anodes safely and to required standard.
- Assists and ensures pot beam raising operation is performed safely.
- Prepares tapping hole prior to metal tapping.
- Skims crucible to remove dross.
- Performs metal and bath sampling for quality and chemistry control.
- Assists cell operator with housekeeping, bath tapping, material addition, pot skimming and redressing.
- Assists in gutter and basement cleaning.
- Attends PTM on the job training if required.
- Cleans crucible and siphon tips.
- Attends anode effects efficiently to lower PFC emissions.
- Performs all other operational work as deemed necessary by Shift Supervisor.
- Ensures pot shields and doors are properly placed to reduce HF emissions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Secondary School Certificate.
- One year of experience in heavy industry is preferable.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work shift schedules in potrooms.
- Learning skills to understand Aluminium Smelting Process.
- English communication skills.
- Complete training to operate Pot Tending Machines, Anode Beam Raising Equipment, and general Potroom tools.
