About the Role
EGA is seeking a Utility Operator to assist in operating reduction cells for aluminium production in Abu Dhabi. The role involves on-the-job training to support cell operations, anode changes, and housekeeping.

Responsibilities
- Assist PTM operator in changing anodes safely and to required standard
- Assist and ensure pot beam raising operation is performed as per procedure
- Prepare tapping hole prior to metal tapping
- Skim crucible to remove dross
- Perform metal and bath sampling for quality and chemistry control
- Assist cell operator in housekeeping, bath tapping/pouring, material addition, pot skimming and redressing
- Assist in gutter and basement cleaning
- Attend PTM on the job training if required
- Clean crucible and siphon tips
- Attend anode effects efficiently aimed at lower PFC emissions
- Maintain 5S Standards and general housekeeping
- Take part in spotting and reporting hazards to reduce incident frequency rate
Requirements
- Secondary School Certificate
- One year of experience in heavy industry is preferable
- Physical fitness and be prepared to work on shift schedules
- English communication skills

Job Purpose
- To attain the basic required skill level for a Utility Operator on the Pot Line through on the job training.
- To assist the Assistant Cell Operator, Cell Operator / Cell Technician in operating reduction cells to produce molten aluminium effectively & efficiently.
Key Accountabilities
- Assists the PTM operator in changing anodes safely and to the required standard.
- Assists and ensures that pot beam raising operation is performed as per procedure and in a safe manner.
- Prepares the tapping hole prior to metal tapping.
- Skims the crucible to remove dross.
- Performs metal and bath sampling for quality and chemistry control purposes.
- Assists the cell operator/ assistant cell operator in miscellaneous activities like housekeeping, bath tapping/pouring, material addition to pots, pot skimming and pot redressing.
- Assists in gutter and basement cleaning.
- Attends PTM on the job training if required.
- Cleans crucible and siphon tips.
- Attends anode effects efficiently aimed at lower PFC emissions.
- Performs all other operational work activities as deemed necessary by the Shift Supervisor.
- Ensures pot shields and doors are properly placed and closed to reduce HF emissions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum Qualifications: Secondary School Certificate.
- Minimum Experience: One year of experience in heavy industry is preferable.
- Skills: Physical fitness and be prepared to work on one of the shift schedules operating within the Potrooms.
- Learning skills in order to understand the Aluminium Smelting Process.
- English communication skills.
- Complete training and acquire skills to operate Pot Tending Machines, Anode Beam Raising Equipment and general Potroom tools, vehicles or equipment.
