About the Role
EGA seeks a Director of Safety to lead the development, planning, management, and audit of safety management systems across all sites. The role requires strategic leadership in safety governance, policy creation, and compliance to achieve zero harm.

Responsibilities
- Set EGA's Safety and Governance strategy and framework based on overall ESG & Sustainability strategy
- Direct implementation of functional strategy ensuring alignment with group strategy and corporate objectives
- Manage effective achievement of functional objectives through leadership and performance management
- Oversee consolidation and recommend functional budget, monitor financial performance
- Strategize creation of company wide safety policies, processes, and procedures
- Lead development of comprehensive governance framework for safety management
- Plan, lead, and coordinate all safety related projects across EGA sites
- Lead conducting of safety meetings and inspections to ensure compliance
- Plan, implement, and conduct safety and compliance audits
- Direct day to day operations of all EGA sites to ensure work processes comply with policies
Requirements
- Proven experience in safety management leadership roles
- Expertise in developing and implementing safety strategies and frameworks
- Knowledge of safety legislation and international standards
- Experience in managing safety audits and inspections
- Strong leadership and team management skills

Job Purpose
- Provides functional expertise, leads and directs the development, planning, management and audit of effective implementation of EGA’s Safety Management systems, strategic plans, policies and programs across EGA sites to ensure compliance to legislation and international standards to achieve EGA’s ro
Key Accountabilities
- Sets out EGA’s Safety and Governance strategy and framework based on EGA’s overall ESG & Sustainability strategy.
- Directs the implementation of the functional strategy ensuring alignment to group strategy, EGA’s vision, mission, and corporate objectives.
- Ensures that functional strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented.
- Ensures the provision of subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and provide counsel to EGA leadership.
- Manages the effective achievement of functional objectives through effective leadership and by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating team.
- Establishes SMART KPI’s for the departments to measure individual and department performance.
- Leads the talent development initiatives for the assigned function.
- Acts as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics.
- Oversees and manages the effective coordination with other departments and sections.
- Oversees the consolidation and recommend the functional budget and monitors financial performance.
- Strategizes the creation of company wide safety policies, processes and procedures and monitors implementation.
- Enforces and implements corporate procedures and guidelines for the entire business.
