Role Overview
The Transformer Testing Engineer performs factory, site, pre-commissioning, and commissioning tests on power and distribution transformers.
Testing must comply with IEC and IEEE standards, project specifications, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform site testing and commissioning.
- Review and verify OEM, FAT, and SAT reports.
- Coordinate with construction, protection, and commissioning teams.
- Prepare test reports, checklists, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure HSE compliance during testing activities.
- Interface with clients and consultants during inspections and approvals.
Qualifications and Experience
- BE, BTech, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Typically five to ten years of experience in transformer testing and commissioning.
- Hands-on experience with EHV, HV, or MV transformers.
- Strong knowledge of IEC 60076 and IEEE transformer standards.
- Experience in substation projects, with GIS or AIS experience preferred.
Required Skills
- Experience with transformer testing instruments and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to interpret test results and perform fault analysis.
- Site coordination and documentation control skills.
- Good communication with OEM and client teams.
