About the Role

Responsibilities
- Attend to all instrument & control equipment breakdowns and planned/preventive/predictive maintenance work
- Technically assess job requirements and select necessary tools and equipment
- Diagnose instrument & control breakdowns/failures and troubleshoot failures of plant and equipment
- Complete all maintenance work in accordance with safety procedures, maintenance plans, and operational requirements
- Achieve all equipment calibrations as per schedule/business requirements
- Order necessary spare parts from warehouse using SAP and maintain records of all maintenance work completed
- Monitor repeated breakdowns and recommend modifications to resolve problems
- Provide guidance to newly joined instrument mechanics
Requirements
- Diploma in the relevant field
- Completion of PEC Craft Training
- 3 years of relevant experience in a smelter or heavy industrial setup after Diploma
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English
- Familiarity with all maintenance tools and basic computer knowledge
- Exposure to installation, troubleshooting & Instrument Calibration
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/manuals/instructions
- Knowledgeable in maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC Control systems

Job Purpose
- To perform a wide range of duties relating to instrument & control installation, repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment and fixtures to ensure efficient operation with minimum downtime without compromising EHS Guidelines.
Key Accountabilities
- Attends to all instrument & control equipment breakdowns and planned/preventive/predictive maintenance work with minimum direction & supervision.
- Technically assesses the requirements of allocated jobs and selects the necessary tools and equipment.
- Effectively diagnoses instrument & control breakdowns/failures & troubleshoots failures of plant and equipment.
- Completes all maintenance work in accordance to safety procedures, maintenance plans and plant operational requirements.
- Achieves all equipment calibrations as per the schedule/business requirements.
- Orders necessary spare parts from warehouse using SAP and maintains records of all maintenance work completed.
- Monitors repeated breakdowns and recommends proper modification to resolve the problem.
- Provides guidance to newly joined instrument mechanics.
- Continuously works towards improving EHS and Plant & Equipment Performance by participating in Business Excellence activities.
- Performs other related duties as communicated by supervisor/technician.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum Qualifications: Diploma in the relevant field, Completion of PEC Craft Training
- Minimum Experience: 3 years of relevant experience in a smelter or heavy industrial setup after Diploma; no experience required after PEC Training
- Skills: Good knowledge of written and spoken English; familiar with all maintenance tools and basic computer knowledge; exposure to installation, troubleshooting & Instrument Calibration; ability to read engineering drawings; knowledgeable in PLC Control systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
