Technical Support Engineer

Role overview

Engineering Solutions responsibilities

• Support Aspen Engineering solutions such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ACCE, and EDR by troubleshooting technical and simulation issues.
• Deliver customer training, maintain training materials, optimize customer workflows, and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with R&D, conduct pre-release testing, contribute to product enhancement, and author knowledge-base white papers.
• Travel to customer sites as required, typically less than 30%.

Subsurface Solutions responsibilities

• Support Aspen SSE products such as SKUA and RMS, focusing on reservoir modeling and geoscience workflows.
• Train customers on subsurface modeling tools and help optimize software for geological applications.
• Assist with pre-sales consultations, troubleshoot geoscience issues, and work with internal teams on solutions.
• Participate in industry events and departmental projects, support training materials, and travel as required, generally less than 25%.

Engineering Solutions qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with AspenTech Engineering tools or related software and with process simulation models and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of hybrid modeling techniques and piping or layout development is preferred.

Subsurface Solutions qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geoscience or Petroleum Engineering, or equivalent years of relevant experience.
• Experience with geological modeling software such as SKUA, RMS, or Petrel.
• Knowledge of subsurface workflows, including reservoir modeling, CCS, and geothermal workflows.
• Familiarity with Python scripting and software customizations is highly desired.

Shared qualifications

• Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to work cross-functionally, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing environments is required.
• Fluent English is preferred; proficiency in an additional language is a plus.
• Willingness to travel as needed, including possible international travel, is required.
