About the Role
Solink is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Device Management group, building performant and scalable solutions for IoT devices. You will set technical strategy, manage a team, and partner with product and architecture teams.

- Lead the technical strategy and execution for the Device Management team, spanning IoT device platform, configuration, monitoring, and deployment tools
- Guide design, delivery, and quality of embedded components and cloud services using Rust, TypeScript, and Node.js in a k8s/serverless AWS/GCP environment
- Translate business requirements into technical strategies, planning, sizing, and estimating solutions
- Drive planning, design sessions, and code reviews, holding the team to strong engineering practices
- Support monitoring, alerting, and production troubleshooting to ensure system reliability
- Use agile methodologies (Jira, Kanban) to drive projects from concept to production
- Lead team in designing workflows that connect cleanly across teams, tools, and operating layers
- Coach team to design solutions that prevent recurring issues
- Actively contribute to cross functional system improvements across the department
- Develop repeatable AI native workflows and support their adoption within the team
- Own outcomes across the team and cross functional initiatives
- Create an environment where everyone can perform at their best
Requirements
- 3+ years in a technical management role with passion for mentoring and developing teams
- 5+ years of full stack development experience with deep technical knowledge in embedded and scaled product environments
- Strong proficiency across the stack, ideally including React, TypeScript, and Rust or C
- Familiarity with serverless cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code tools such as CDK, Terraform, or Serverless
- Strong systems thinker with experience designing distributed, resilient, high performance services
- Skilled in agile project execution (Jira, Kanban)
- Strategic and analytical thinker, organized, process driven
- Strong communicator who actively listens and collaborates
- Empathetic, inclusive leader who values team input
- Must be a Canadian citizen or eligible to work in Canada

The Role

What You’ll Do Technical Leadership & Strategy

What You Bring Must Have
- 3+ years in technical management role with passion for mentoring.
- 5+ years full stack development experience in embedded and scaled product environments.
- Strong proficiency across stack: React, TypeScript, Rust or C.
- Familiarity with serverless cloud infrastructure and IaC tools (CDK, Terraform, Serverless).
- Strong systems thinker with distributed systems experience.
- Skilled in agile project execution (Jira, Kanban).
- Strategic and analytical thinker.
- Strong communicator and collaborator.
- Empathetic, inclusive leader.
What You Bring Nice to Have
- Experience with IoT device communication and device management.
- Database design and optimization experience.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, observability.
- Background in DevSecOps, cloud cost optimization, infrastructure performance tuning.
- Experience with Snowflake, Elasticsearch, or cloud native data platforms.
- Exposure to event driven architectures (Kinesis, Kafka).
- Open source contributions.
- Prior experience in fast growing environments.
Security Requirements
- Must undergo criminal records check upon hire.
- Must attend at least one in person interview at Ottawa office.
- Must be Canadian citizen or eligible to work in Canada.
- Must comply with Solink's security policies.
- Mandatory onboarding in Ottawa during first week.
- Periodic in person visits required (quarterly).
