About the Role

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and libraries for REST APIs, UI (React), security, and end to end/integration layers
- Write production quality code for test harnesses, device simulators, performance tools, and mocks
- Build and maintain tooling that improves testability across the stack
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines
- Evaluate and introduce new tools and frameworks to keep test infrastructure scalable
- Participate in design sessions, RFCs, and architecture discussions advocating for testability and reliability
- Review code and pull requests with focus on correctness, edge cases, performance, and maintainability
- Design test plans and strategies for new and existing features
- Drive test coverage for IoT device configuration, monitoring, deployment, and connectivity workflows
- Validate distributed cloud systems for correctness, performance, and resilience
- Own test estimation and planning as part of sprint and release cycles
- Act as proactive voice for quality across engineering org
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software testing with strong hands on coding ability
- Strong programming skills in Python, plus working proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and/or Rust
- Demonstrated experience designing and building test automation frameworks from the ground up
- Comfortable working in Linux environments
- Solid understanding of AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis or similar)
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to read and reason about production code and participate in code reviews
- Strong systems thinking for distributed, event driven architectures
- Excellent communication skills with ability to give direct, technically substantiated feedback
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (CDK, Terraform, Serverless Framework) (nice to have)
- Experience with IoT device communication protocols and building device simulators (nice to have)

The Role
- We're looking for an SDET to join the Device Management team.
- You'll design and build test automation frameworks, tooling, and infrastructure.
- You'll write real code against Rust/Node.js APIs, React front end, and AWS serverless infrastructure.

What You Bring

Security Requirements
- Must undergo criminal records check upon hire.
- Must attend at least one in person interview in Ottawa.
- Must be Canadian citizen or eligible to work in Canada.
- Must comply with Solink's security policies.
- Mandatory onboarding in Ottawa during first week.
- Periodic in person visits required quarterly.
