Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare maki rolls and other varieties of sushi.
• Roll sushi neatly and consistently and slice rolls and fish accurately.
• Prepare and season sushi rice according to required standards.
• Organize sushi ingredients, fillings, sauces, and garnishes.
• Follow standardized recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
• Maintain consistency in taste, quality, portion, and presentation.
• Handle, store, and rotate fresh fish and other ingredients properly.
• Maintain hygiene, food safety, and a clean sushi preparation area.
• Work efficiently during busy periods while minimizing waste and following stock-control procedures.
• Coordinate with the Head Chef and kitchen team for smooth daily operations.

Required Qualifications

• Have 2–3 years of practical experience as a Sushi Cook or in a similar position.
• Have strong hands-on experience with sushi rolling and slicing.
• Be able to prepare different types of sushi consistently.
• Have good knife skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques.
• Know sushi rice preparation and basic Japanese or Asian ingredients.
• Understand food hygiene, food handling, and kitchen safety.
• Hold a valid Health and Safety or Food Safety Certificate.
• Have transferable Iqama or Qatar residency documentation.
• Be currently based in Doha, Qatar and available to join immediately.
• Be able to work as part of a professional kitchen team and under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Japanese, Asian, fusion, or high-volume restaurant operations is preferred.
• Knowledge of different sushi rolls and modern sushi presentation is preferred.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes and maintain consistency is preferred.
