Role Overview
A Doha restaurant is seeking an experienced Chinese and Japanese wok cook for a busy kitchen environment.
The cook will prepare fried rice, fried noodles, stir-fried dishes, and other wok-based menu items.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate an Asian wok confidently at high heat and prepare fried rice, noodles, vegetables, chicken, beef, shrimp, and other wok dishes.
- Follow standardized recipes, portion sizes, and presentation requirements.
- Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and speed during busy service periods.
- Prepare, store, and handle ingredients properly while maintaining food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Keep the wok station clean, organized, and ready for service.
- Minimize food waste, rotate stock properly, and work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Asian wok cook and strong practical experience preparing fried rice and fried noodles using a Chinese wok are required.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service is required.
- A valid Health and Safety or Food Safety Certificate is required.
- Transferable Iqama or Qatar residency documentation is required.
- Candidates must currently be based in Doha, Qatar and available to join immediately.
- Good communication and teamwork skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Restaurant, food hall, QSR, or high-volume food and beverage experience is preferred.
- Experience with Asian, Chinese, Thai, or pan-Asian cuisine is preferred.
- The ability to follow recipes and adapt to a standardized menu is preferred.
Workplace
- The role is based in a busy restaurant environment at Msheireb Mall in Doha.
