Opportunity

CanAtom is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project for Ontario Power Generation.

The project includes retube, feeder, and boiler replacement work for Units 5–8.

The Senior EHS Advisor reports to the EHS Director and advises project line supervisors while supervising a small EHS Advisor team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS management systems and processes.
  • Oversee EHS orientations, mentoring, workplace observations, inspections, audits, and coaching.
  • Ensure risk mitigation, emergency preparedness, environmental management, and communication plans are implemented.
  • Lead incident investigation, reporting, analysis, trend monitoring, and corrective action.
  • Supervise EHS Advisors and support safety meetings, committees, presentations, and government liaison activities.

Qualifications

  • Construction project knowledge and strong understanding of OHSA and relevant regulations are required.
  • CRSP, COR Auditor, or NCSO designation or progress toward one is an asset.
  • Incident investigation training or experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills and strong communication, organization, facilitation, and adaptability are required.

Work Environment

  • The role requires field and office work with frequent travel between work sites.
  • The position requires work in a nuclear environment, including potential radiological, confined-space, and work-at-heights conditions.
  • The role may require shift work, extended hours, occasional weekends or nights, respirators, and protective plastics.
  • The position requires walking more than 3 km per day, climbing stairs and ladders, and supporting project demands.

Compensation

  • The expected pay range is $100,000–$120,000 per year.
