Project and Role Overview

Scarborough Transit Connect is delivering the Stations, Rail and Systems package for the Scarborough Subway Extension.

The Environmental Inspector ensures construction works conform to the Environmental Management System across multiple project sites.

The role reports to the Environmental Compliance Officer and is based full time on-site.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct daily environmental monitoring and inspections and maintain logs with photographic evidence.
  • Prepare monitoring, inspection, monthly compliance, non-conformance, spill, and incident reports.
  • Review air quality, noise, and vibration reports and advise construction teams on mitigations.
  • Attend construction meetings and recommend corrective actions for environmental issues or non-compliance.
  • Notify regulators as required and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Interface with environmental subconsultants and assist with trackers and annual compliance reports.
  • Collect soil, groundwater, stormwater, dust, noise, and tree protection zone samples and measurements.
  • Respond to evening and weekend calls when required.

Experience You Will Bring

  • Diploma, bachelor's degree, or advanced degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, or another environmental discipline.
  • Three to five years of environmental monitoring and mitigation experience in roadway or transit construction.
  • Experience with watercourses, erosion and sedimentation controls, spill reporting, effluent containment, and dust containment.
  • CAN-CISEC certification or proven proficiency with Erosion and Sediment Control Plans.
  • Full Canadian driver's license with a clear driver's abstract.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Compensation

  • Compensation is $75,000 to $90,000 annually, depending on experience, education, training, and qualifications.
